Description
When Greg Rich left Rich and Taylor he trademarked the Recording King name which explains why he is such a big part of the Recording King Banjos being made today.  He had Mark Taylor (Taylor of Rich and Taylor) build a few USA made Recording King Banjos in Tennessee.  This is one of those banjos and this is a very rare banjo that also is a really nice one too.
This has a 3 ply hard rock maple shell which has been finished.  The neck and resonator are both flame maple and this has very very nice flame maple.  There is a shade of green in the wood which is a mark of very high quality maple.  The hardware is gold with some Granada style engraving.  The banjo has a Tennessee 20 tone ring which is stamped and is also definitely a desirable tone ring.  The fretboard is rosewood with a Hearts and Flowers inlay pattern and really attractive binding on each side of the neck.  The headstock has more inlay including a Recording King logo block and more binding.  This is super cool and I can say this is the first time I have ever seen one of these.
This would be a great banjo for a player or a collector due to the high quality and rarity.  This is all original and includes a Road Runner Hardshell Case.
Condition
This has been professionally cleaned at the Banjo Warehouse.  We disassembled the banjo and cleaned the Gold as well as it could be.  There is still some very light tarnish in the gold but overall it really shines.  The wood has been waxed which really gives this a nice glow.  The neck and fretboard are in great shape and the frets look basically untouched.  There are spikes in the 7th and 9th frets.  This is definitely in great shape and the case also looks basically new.
Set Up
This has been professionally set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta as well.  We put a new Huber frosted head by Remo which is set to 90 on a drum dial.  The bridge is set with correct intonation.  The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the action is set nicely.  This sounds wonderful and plays like butter.
This is such a rare and interesting banjo with some interesting history behind it also.
