Salstrom 5-string banjo.
This banjo is cosmetically and structurally in good condition! It has some wear as shown in photos...back resonator has a big scuff on it that may be able to be buffed out....needs cleaned, set up, and new strings....straight neck...no issues there...
Whyte-Laydie Tubaphone style tone ring (Woodhaven Industries flathead [Gibson-style] tone rings were used after 1964), one-piece die-cast flange, 24 sets of round J-hooks and nuts, four sets of resonator attachment hardware, decorative wood marquetry on resonator exterior sidewall and rim.
Phil Salstrom founded Rockwood Carvers in Oregon, Illinois and then in 1963 founded Salstrom Banjos. The company was sold to Fender in 1969 and the equipment moved to California, ending Salstrom Banjo production...
