    Description

Original 1920's vintage photograph of a Martin (?) NBS-1 biplane. From what we have learned, this Army air force airplane was a bomber, it's identification numbers standing for "Night Bomber Short-range Number 1".
This photograph was taken at Fort Sill, Oklahoma by Carlyle Chamberlain in the 1920s while he was stationed there. It is a stunning near profile view with the Army star slightly visible on the upperside of the top wing. With a magnifying glass, you can make out "NSB-1" on the tail. Boldly painted on the side is "1", and the plane number A.S. 22-217.
Behind this beauty is a row of other airplanes with similar markings and appear to be NBS-1 planes also.
    Measurement of this photograph is approximately 5 7/8" x 3 5/8"
Carlyle Chamberlain was an undiscovered photographer who lived in Louisville, Kentucky. His love of adventure was well known to those around him, as was his passion for photography. The majority of his work spans 1920's - 1940's. His field of composition covered a variety of themes, predominately human interest and nature.
